At around 9 a.m. on Sunday May 15th, I saw ten species of warbler on the footpath on the west side of the oxbow at Little River. Highlights included a Canada Warbler and a female Cerulean Warbler. Little River is in Windsor. It is best accessed from the parking area at the end of Little River Road. At 11:25 a.m. today I flushed a female Chuck-will's-widow at the Ganatchio Trail in the Little River area of east Windsor. The bird was on the east (wooded) side of the toboggan hill above the old creek. I flushed her and got a great look at her as she flew directly across the creek to the other side and vanished. But she must have circled back somehow because I flushed what had to be the same bird again about ten minutes later, further north on the hill. Again, the looks were brief, but exciting. This is a BIG bird! Makes the Whip-poor-will look puny. Wish I could have posted sooner but I couldn't get a computer at the library. Good birding! Randy Horvath, Windsor [EMAIL PROTECTED] Little River and the Ganatchio Trail are best accessed (if you drive) from the intersection of Riverdale and Little River Road east of Lauzon Road. Drive in over the bridge and park in the lot. Take the trail to the south for birding along the old creek. Follow the creek on the north, walking the west side, if you want to try for the Chuck-will's-widow. --------------------------------- Post your free ad now! Yahoo! Here are the details: Today, May 15, in the Huntmar Dr. area SE of Carp, there were the following: - 1 male Brewster's Warbler "back-cross", well-seen and heard singing a definitive Blue-winged Warbler song-type - 1 male Golden-wonged Warbler, also well-seen and heard singing a Blue-winged song - and yet another male Golden-winged Warbler singing the same Blue-winged song-type. The Brewster's was seen between 12:30 and 12:45, 1.5 km east of the railroad bridge over Huntmar Dr. just before the hydro cut at the mountain-bike trail that crosses the tracks. One of the Golden-winged's was 0.5 km west of this location along the tracks at 1:00 PM, and the other, reported by a separate observer also at 1:00 PM, was also along Huntmar Dr. between the railroad bridge and the bridge over the Carp River. The railroad bridge crosses Huntmar Dr. between Old Carp Rd. and Richardson Side Rd. DIRECTIONS: >From Ottawa, take Hwy 417 west to exit 140 (Terry Fox Dr.), take Terry Fox north to Richardson Side Rd., turn left on Richardson Sd. Rd. then right onto Huntmar Dr. Go under the railroad over Huntmar, and park on the the right side of the road. Look for the trail entrance on your right and follow this trail for a short way...keep looking right for a side-path that takes you to a small old wooden foot-bridge, which leads to the railway. Walk east along the tracks from here. Good birding, Chris Lewis & Bob Bracken Ottawa [EMAIL PROTECTED]
