Hello Ontbirders,

There appears to be a movement of Arctic Terns in
progress along the Ottawa River today. I had two
separate birds go over while I was doing point counts
for the atlas this morning. I had another bird go past
when I made a brief stop at the river. All 3
individuals would have been visible from any access
points at Constance Bay. The best access point for
viewing (narrowest point) is near The Point
restaurant.

Constance Bay is about 30 minutes west of Ottawa. From
highway 417, take either March Valley Road exit, then
turn west onto Dunrobin Road. After passing through
Dunrobin and Woodlawn, turn right onto Constance Bay
Road and follow it to the river. Turn left and watch
for the Point Restaurant after 1 or 2 kms. The birds I
saw were all heading west along the river. Others are
likely to be seen from any point along the river
between Ottawa and Petawawa today.
