Visitors:
Our thanks to the many visitors who were pressed into duty today. The busy
days cannot be done successfully without their help. Special thanks to
Dorothy McLeer, Brett Groves and Vicky McKay who filled in after this
counter had to leave for Thanksgiving dinner at 3:00 p.m.
Weather:
Strong Northerly winds and blue skies with little cloud pushed the raptors
to Holiday Beach this day.
Raptor Observations:
Over 22000 birds today with 20,032 Turkey Vultures migrating over Holiday
Beach. Sharp-shinned hawks (925) and Red-tailed Hawks (802) filled the few
gaps. The only raptor we didn't see was a Peregrine Falcon. We did see our
first Golden Eagle of the season.
Non-raptor Observations:
Two strange sightings today included two Ravens and eight Snow Geese. Blue
Jays in excess of 20,000 made counting an adventure today.
Predictions:
North winds continue Monday, but chance of rain in the forecast.
