Hello birders,
Today on Lake Temiskaming the winds were so powerfull that at times it
was hard to stand up. At 3pm today I found a raft of 14 Red Throated
Loons moving south down the lake and eventually out of site by 4ish. I
began to watch Herring and Ring Billed Gulls on the beach when an
Adult Pomarine Jeagers came over my head and attacked the gulls. The
Jeager then took off chasing a Ring Bill and out of site. The Pomarine
Jeager was seen at the Haileybury Beach Hotel as I was standing on the
pier.

Official Counter: Jeff Schultz
Observers: Calvin Brennan, Dave Mendus
Weather:
Today was overcast for the most part but with some extended sunny periods.
Winds were moderate to fairly strong from the west.
Raptor Observations:
The passage today was a bit more along a defined flight line compared to
yesterdays broadly spread movement. Many of the impressively large groups
of TVs, particularly later in the afternoon, were directly over the
onlookers at the boat launch. Similar to yesterday, a modest amount of
other raptors were mixed in with the vultures, although we did get some
excellent views of birds, in particular one very cooperative dark morph
Rough-legged Hawk. Interestingly the season total for Turkey Vultures as
it sits right now is just 870 birds from our record season set in 2003.
Non-raptor Observations:
