The Saugeen Shores Christmas Bird Count will be held on Wednesday, January 4th.
Last year 17 members of the Bruce County Birding Club participated in the
trial year and had a great time.
If you would like to participate, please contact me directly.

Currently there is a Eurasian Wigeon (reported by Maris Apse), Short-eared Owl
and Snowy Owls in the area. A local non-birder has reported a Northern Hawk
Owl in the Port Elgin area and I will post directions if it is located.

Happy holidays,
Cindy Cartwright

Hi Everyone
The Northern Hawk-Owl was present this morning along Frank Kenny Road
just south of Innes Road at the S curve. It was very active hunting on both
sides of the road and was nearly struck by a dump truck. At one point is was
sitting on top of a telephone poles being dive bombed by a Common Raven.
Later in the morning at Britannia an immature Golden Eagle flew over
drifting south and 2 adult Bald Eagle were also seen. A late afternoon check
at Constance Bay produced 1 adult Red-headed Woodpecker and a flock of 16
Common Redpoll at the old burn site.
                                                            good birding
                                                            Bruce
