This morning about 10 45 a.m Terry Osborne, Audrey Oswald and Jim Coey had a
Turkey Vulture during the S. Peel Field Naturalists Christmas Bird Count. We
were in a small park called Post park accessed from Chartwell and Mc Donald in
Oakville. It is unlikely to be hanging around. It was seen heading south
towards the lake

Other birds of note were an adult Bald eagle and 3 Carolina wrens.

To reach Chartwell from Qew, take Trafalgar south to Cornwall, East on Cornwall
to Chart and South on Chartwell. The Bald Eagle was on the lake shore at the
bottom of Chartwell.

Another very good wintry day's birding in the Long Point area.
At 8.30 am on Old Cut Blvd. at the foot of Long Point Causeway, a
probable Eastern Phoebe was flying in and out of a conifer on the far
side of the canal. It had disappeared when I finally reached the
bank. At the Old Cut banding station, the feeders produced many
Cowbirds, Grackles, a RW Blackbird, a Siskin, Fox Sparrow, and a
   Hermit Thrush eating Highbush cranberries.
Some open water off Rogers Rd. (off Old Cut) hosted about 200
Tundra Swans, a Ring-necked & a Ruddy duck. Thanks to Kevin McLaughlin
& Bill Lamond (conducting Hamilton Xmas Count), a Catbird was easily
found eating bittersweet berries halfway between the first bridge
going south along the causeway and the Big Creek parking area. It was
on the bay side near some junipers and a euonymus tree between 2
   houses.
At the bridge in Port Royal (RR # 42 ) were 2 male Wood Ducks and
a female Hooded Merganser. Further west were 2 male Harriers, a
Savannah Sparrow at roadside, and 4 Sandhill Cranes overhead.
North of Normandale, about 200 m. south of Spooky Hollow, an
Eastern Meadowlark fed at the edge of the road. Along Spooky Hollow
Rd. near the bridge were 13 male and one female Eastern Bluebirds. At
the intersection of Spooky Hollow Rd. & Charlottevile 2 Rd., a large
flock of Snow Buntings and Horned Larks contained at least 8 Lapland
   Longspurs.
3 Short-eared Owls roosted near the Raptor Reserve on Conc. 6
   just north of Fisherville.
At the bridge at the Taquanyah creek off Decewsville Rd. north
of Highway #3, 10 Rusty Blackbirds flew in at 4.45 pm.

Saw Peregrine Falcon on top of telephone pole on Chemin Regimbald about 0.5
km east of Frank Kenny Road at 4:30 pm on December 12. Took several
pictures before it flew off northwards.

Directions: Queensway east, continue on Hwy 174 east, go past Orleans mall
and exit south on Trim Road, continue south to Innis, turn left (east) at
Innis and take next right onto Frank Kenny Road. Continue south on Frank
Kenny to Regimbald - turn left and continue to jog in road. Falcon was seen
on pole on right side of road at the jog.
