5 Greater White-fronted Geese were discovered in Cobourg harbour at 1pm today, January 11th. They were swimming together in a small group among hundreds of Canada Geese and other waterfowl. Their dull orange bills suggested they were of the Greenland race. The local hotline brought several birders to see them, but they could not be found after 2pm and may have flown west. A large flock of gulls on the water in the harbour included a nice adult Thayer's Gull and one Bonaparte's Gull. One or two Glaucous and Iceland gulls have been present recently as well as a first-year Lesser Black-backed Gull. Hi All! I've been asked by a few people to try and update the Ivory Gull situation daily.
