This chilly morning, a Brant was found swimming among hundreds of Canada Geese just east of the Brock St Bridge over Pringles Creek. At 10:30 it took off with a group of Canada's towards Whitby Harbour/Lake Ontario.
On Hall's Road, about 20 Horned Larks were feeding in the field just to the west. The Barred Owl was not seen. To reach the Brock St Bridge, exit the 401 at Brock St in Whitby (_not_ Brock Road) and go south about 1km. To reach Whitby Harbour from there, go another 1km south, there's a parking area on the right. Hall's Road is about 5km west of Brock St off Bayly. While not the earliest egg date listed in Peck and James (31 January) for the Province, it's certainly ahead of the average - perhaps stimulated by last weeks' warm temperatures?
