Robin and Angelina Mason have hosted a male Varied Thrush at their feeder every day for two weeks now including this morning. They are happy to share it with birders but access is the problem because it is seen behind the house. It is very dependable only in the very early morning before 6 (but now that will be 7AM with the time change). They are offering to get up early so that birders can see it from their livingroom tomorrow morning Sunday the 2nd at 6:30 AM. From 401, go north on 12 Hwy to Hwy 7 then east to Ashburn then north to Columbus. then east to Cedarbrook Trail. Go north 1.2 km to a house on the west side # 7600 on the mailbox and park on the street. Hugh Currie

Despite the heavy rain, birding was quite good this morning in the flooded Bear Brook area east of Ottawa.

Along Milton Road there were 5 Tundra Swans amongst large numbers of Canada Geese on Bear Brook on the east side of road, just south of the bridge. Also in this area were good numbers of Northern Pintail and Green-winged Teal with smaller numbers of Wood Ducks, Ring-necked Ducks and Hooded Mergansers.

Further north on Milton Road 2 Wild Turkeys and 2 Sandhill Cranes were feeding far back in the fields on the west side of the road near the intersection of Perreault Rd. There was also an early Eastern Phoebe and and Eastern Meadowlark in this area.

Along Frank Kenny Road at the flooded Bear Brook were 2 more Tundra Swans and a blue phase Snow Goose. There were also 3 Tree Swallows here.
