This evening at around 6 PM I observed a Greater White-fronted Goose among a
small flock of Canadas on the east side of Twin Elm between Cambrian and
Barnsdale. It was in a field more or less opposite #3871 on Twin Elm. The bird
was somewhat strange, in that its bill showed dark rather than pinkish and that
the black on the belly was very extensive (in big swaths). The field it was in
did appear to be very muddy, though, so perhaps these parts were simply
discoloured. As the bird was in corn stubble, the legs were difficult to
observe, but appeared to be a mixture of orange and dark, suggesting caked mud.
The other marks were clearly visible (white "front" around the bill, white
flank line and white/black/white bands on tail). It seems likely that this is
the bird that was seen close by on the Jock River Sunday morning.

The nearby flooded Burnside pit on Moodie just north of Barnsdale had a pair of
Redheads, as well as other more common ducks (many Common Mergansers, and a few
Ring-necked Ducks, Bufflehead, Green-winged Teal)

Note: Please do not hop the fence or otherwise trespass at the Burnside pit.
