Clive Goodwin has phoned from Brighton to say that there are 2 Black-necked Stilts at the "Water-polishing Ponds" in Brighton and they have been there for several hours. Exit Hwy.401 at Exit 509, County Road.30. Go south through the town, not turning left at the main traffic lights. Continue south, which is now Prince Edward Street which curves eastward. Once it is running east, the ponds are on the south side, the sewage plant on the north side.

From the viewing deck look to the left at a 45 degree angle and they are wading around, often out of view in cattails, near the back of the first cell - about 150 m away. Directions: From Hwy. 401 take Cty. Rd. 30 south to Brighton. Go south through the two traffic lights, over the railway tracks, and as you near the Lake the road (Prince Edward St. at this point) swings left. The ponds are on the south (right) side just as you complete the turn. The Sewage Lagoons are on the north side about 200 meters past the polishing pond. At Presqu'ile this morning I has 22 "winter" Red-throated Loons, plus 5 breeding plumaged Red-necked Grebes off the beach, a second winter Glaucous Gull at Owen Pt., and a Red-bellied Woodpecker at the lighthouse. Otherwise lots of the "usual suspects". Cheers Doug Doug McRae P.O. Box 3010 Brighton, Ontario Canada K0K 1H0 613-475-5014 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
