At least 1 of the Black-necked Stilts was seen at 8:00 AM at the lagoon in
Brighton.
Directions: As per Doug McCrae, take highway 401 to County Road #30, go
south to Brighton going through 2 traffic lights and over the railroad
tracks. Near the lake you'll come to Prince Edward Street, swing left and
the ponds are on the right.
Good Birding!

Greetings all,
Further to Vivian Bessel's earlier posting, both Stilts are now back
at the Brighton Wastewater Polishing Ponds as of 11 a.m. From the
viewing deck, look to the left at about a 45 degree angle and they
are feeding, often out of view in the cattails for minutes at a time,
near the back of the closest cell. If you don't see them at first,
be patient and they will likely appear.
Directions: From Hwy 401, go south on Cty. Rd. 30 (the Brighton
exit) and follow south into town. Go south through the two traffic
lights, over the railway tracks (from this point the ponds are 1.4 km
further on). Soon after crossing the tracks the main road begins a
long swing to the left, and the ponds are on the right just before
the road straightens out.
I also checked Presqu'ile briefly this morning and saw 2 Pine
Warbler, one Myrtle, a pair of Merlins doing their display flights
complete with the Purple Finch-like clicking call, and a half dozen R-
thr Loons from Owen Pt.
Cheers,
Doug McRae

Eurasian Wigeon SW of Guelph (Neibauer's Marsh), 14/04/06, 3pm

Hi All:
At least one male Eurasian Wigeon was present today around 3 pm at the
Neibauer's Marsh just SW of Guelph, along with several American Wigeon. I
Had excellent of views of this lifer, which spent much of it's time
preening. It was seen in the SW corner of the large pond (west side of the
road). Also present:
Northern Shoveler
Ring-necked Duck
Pied-billed Grebe
American Coot
Great Blue Heron
Directions:
Neibauer's Marsh is located along Wellington County Road 32, roughly
half-way between Cambridge and Guelph. Easiest access is by traveling south
on CR32 from highway 24, which runs from Cambridge to Guelph. The "marsh" is
right at the road, and looks more like a flooded portion of farm fields, its
hard to miss.
Sorry for the poor directions, a map with coordinates is available at:
http://www.naturesbestcreations.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=32
Or email me and I will try to provide better directions.
