Rondeau was very slow on Fri. April 28. Yellow Rumped Warbler and Black
Throated Green Warbler were Identified. Hermit Thrushes, Winter Wren, BC
Chickadees, Nuthatches, Ruby crowned Kinglets, Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers
present. 6 hours in the field and no real outstanding sightings. Beautiful day.
Pushing the migration a little early, hopefully the warm weather brings a few
waves of warblers in to Rondeau area soon. Kingston and northern areas are
seeing more than we are. Good birding.

Hi everyone,
This Saturday afternoon, about 3:30, Larry Cornelis found a Ruff across the
road from his home north of Wallaceburg. This individual is quite dark,
with some white "blotches". At one point, the bird put on quite a display,
showing its "ruffed" feathers while it danced around a small group of
pectoral sandpipers. It seems to be quite content to be eating worms in a
newly created wetland area along the north branch of the Sydenham River
(Larry and his family recently created the wetland, which will eventually be
called the "Bossu Wetland", directly across the road from his home). The
Ruff was still present at 8:00 this evening. Some pictures were digiscoped
by myself and Blake Mann. I did some quick looking on the internet for a
picture of a similar-looking individual and would suggest going to
http://www.cmp.liv.ac.uk/birdseyeview/birds.php?order=Waders&specie=Ruff&pic
=3 . Not exact but close.
 Directions
Take hwy 40 from either Sarnia or Chatham and turn east onto Whitebread
line (gravel road). Whitebread is a few miles north of Wallaceburg. Take
Whitebread to the end and turn right onto Nelson. Go 200 meters and turn
left into driveway at 1612. Take driveway back to barns and park along
driveway at barns. Walk between barns and back behind larger barn and look
over the wetland for the Ruff.
