For those of you who have birded the Earl Armstrong Rd south of the airport at Ottawa, I sent an email a while ago to say that it was being built up. At this point it is closed between Limebank and HIgh Rd ( just off Albion). Half of the pond is filled in, apparently for a road change of direction.
There is a nesting Red-tailed Hawk along the closed part.

This evening there was a male Northern Harrier, Savannah Sparrows, Eastern Meadowlarks, Barn Swallows, Killdeer, etc. The pit on High Rd has some if its Bank Swallows back now and some Great Blue Herons on their nests at Leitrim Wetland can be seen from the same location on High Rd.

High Rd runs off Albion Rd across from the Rideau Carleton Raceway and Slots. Leitrim runs between Albion and Limebank, which in turn runs off River Rd, south of Hunt Club Rd. Check www.ofnc.ca/birding for more directions.

Cheers, Eve
