After a weekend on Pelee Island for the Springsong Festival and dinner, it is a
lot slower back at home. The weather was not that good but the birding was
excellent.
Now to the task at hand, Kip Daynard over the weekend reports seeing Ruddy
Duck, Wood Duck, Blue-winged Teal, Pied-billed Grebe, and Northern Shoveller on
the lagoons. New sightings for warblers are Blackburnian, Magnolia, Common
Yellowthroat and Bay-breasted. Other birds of note were Indigo Bunting,
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Red-eyed Vireo, Warbling Vireo, Ovenbird and
Great-crested Flycatcher.
Fred Jazvac on his way home from Pelee Island on Monday, stopped by Mirimichi
Bay and watched approx. 60 Dunlin in aerial display and formation flying.
I myself was out today and there were still about 40 Dunlin on the bay. Also
present were Semipalmated Sandpiper, and Least Sandpiper.
Good Birding
