I have just enjoyed watching a pair of purple finch eating at my niger seed feeder. At first I thought the female was a house finch which we've seen here before but when I saw the male, it was very clearly a purple finch.
Directions: 135 King St., Guelph. If out of town, from Hwy 401 take the Hanlon Expressway north to Wellington St., east to Eramosa (Wellington becomes Woolwich a block before this) turn right and then left on King (third street). There's a city laneway on the right just beside our house and the feeder is hanging from the roof of a second floor balcony. There's free parking on King so please don't park on the city lane but you will need to walk up the lane to see the feeder. Barb Peeren Guelph 519-836-1437
