Greetings,
While sitting on the beach waiting for Don's gull to appear, I saw an
adult American Golden Plover, largely in bright colour still, appear
on Presqu'ile's Beach 3 this evening (29 August 2006) at about 7:15
p.m. It immediately went to waters' edge and drank from the Lake for
several minutes. About 30 minutes later it was relocated on the spit
bridging Gull Is. and Owen Pt. This is one of the very few adults I
have seen here in over 30 years of shorebirding at Presqu'ile. No
sign of Don's Gull yet.
Cheers,
Doug McRae
