Weather:
Other than the occasional sunny break, overcast conditions persisted
throughout the day today. Winds were light to moderate from the
north-northwest.




Raptor Observations:
The flight was moderate for the most part with a bit of a spike in activity
during the brightest portions of the day in the mid afternoon. Highlighting
the day was the seasonÂ’s first SwainsonÂ’s Hawk, a dark morph juvenile.
Several Peregrines were in attendance today, providing some excellent
views to the watchers. There were a fair number of Bald Eagles seen as
well, many more than the couple that were recorded as migrants. One
juvenile eagle put on quite a show as it tried to get a Great Blue Heron
to give up its fish meal. It made several passes on the foraging heron
before forcing it to vacate the area.
