Observation start time: 07:30:00
Observation end time: 16:30:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter: Calvin Brennan

Observers: Charlene Borchers, Chuck Owens, Jeff Loughman, Jeff Schultz

Weather:
Today was again overcast for much of the early part of the day, making for
a very slow start to the count. Skies did begin to brighten by midday and
the afternoon ended up being mostly sunny. Winds were light and variable
early in the day becoming moderate southeast in the afternoon.

Raptor Observations:
The flight picked up markedly when the weather improved at midday. Some
decent sized kettles of Broad-wings were recorded during the early
afternoon but unfortunately much of the movement was well to the north,
quite predictably given the wind direction in the afternoon. The seasonÂ’s
second SwainsonÂ’s Hawk was noted moving with this flight of Broad-wings to
the north. Otherwise, the flight was dominated by a large Sharpie movement
and another very good Kestrel migration as well as the largest Osprey
movement of the season, many of these birds flying directly over the
watch, to the appreciation of about 150 people gathered for the annual
hawkfest celebration.

Non-raptor Observations:
