A Thermal Updraft Velocity of over 200ft./min. meant thermals alongside the
lakefront--the rising bar.pr. certainly brought through some great raptors. I
was aided immensely by several great observers, as some of the hawks were quite
distant. I left after 6 hours, there being one hanger-on counter--I'll get his
results later.

To date the weather conditions along the lakefront have not been conducive for
a significant number of Broad-wingeds--unless a radical change occurs "very
very soon" CMRW will have a very low BW count. The record high for BW was in
1993- 11,303; last year we experienced a record low--only 220!!!

Observations made by 10 observers over 6 hours-Sep.19
Observation time--9am to 3pm
Counter--Doug Lockrey
Observers-- Jim Larkin ,Donna Foster, Margaret Carney, Dennis Barry, Karl
Jennewein, Les and Jean Sayer, Jim Munroe et al

At 1250 an adult BE sailed along, offering great views. At 1425 an imm. (age
unknown) appeared in the distance to the north.
Non-raptors--catbird, many Hummingbirds, 6 Lesser Yellowlegs, White-throated
Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, white-breasted
Nuthatch, 2 great Egrets.
There were many Monarchs and 3 species of migrating Dragonflies

At 4pm there was a Long-billed Dowitcher in the far corner of the far cell.

Two Stilt Sandpipers remain - there were 26 there last Friday.
Also two Pectoral, four Least, many Yellowlegs.

Couldn't find the Buff-breasted Sandpiper near Beeton (see postings on Sept
17th)
There were maybe 20 American Golden-plovers at the very far north end of the
field near green sign 5670 on Conc 10. It may have been with them.

I also saw 23 Turkeys a few kms further west along Concession 10 on Friday.

There were 6 A. Golden-plovers at Brouwer's Sod farm just south of Bradford,
on the east side of Yonge street. They are somewhat hidden in the field
behind a row of cat-tails.
