Winds were light west-southwest in the morning becoming moderate to fairly strong south-southeast in the afternoon. Raptor Observations: The flight was steady throughout the day today, really one of the most consistent movements of the season with a good flow of birds all day long. There were some decent Broad-wing kettles seen throughout the day, but surely we are in the wind-down for this species without recording a large movement, a keen reminder of why we tally data over an extended time frame. The day overall was dominated by Sharpies, Kestrels and Harriers. The Harriers particularly put on a very nice show for the watchers today, coming by overhead in small groups of 2-4 birds. For the day 3,141 birds of 10 species were recorded. Non-raptor Observations: Small groups of Blue Jays were noted today, perhaps signaling the beginning of their movement for the fall. A single Common Nighthawk was seen during the mid afternoon. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Calvin Brennan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/
