There was a winter plumage American Avocet at Presqu'ile Provincial Park at 9:30am today (Thursday Sept 28). It was standing on the north shore of Gull Island about 700 metres out from the Owen Point observation area. It would just be visible from this location with a good scope. Access is allowed beyond Owen Point, out onto Gull Island (which is currently attached to Owen Pt) on Thursdays, Sundays, and Tuesdays. The rest of the week the area beyond Owen Point is closed for a controlled Waterfowl Hunt.
