But I trust Ian's observation and I'm willing to bet my bird was none other than the Le Conte's he saw.

Hey again. I just saw a posting from Ian and it seems like he saw a Le
Conte's in the exact same place I saw my "sharp-tailed". I never got a very
good look at my bird. It flew up once and I identified it as
sharp-tailed/Le Conte's and it ran along the ground, etc. just like last
week's sharp-tail.
