A lone adult Brant has been seen the last 3 days at the Riverside Park in Pembroke. Despite the weather it stuck around the same spot at the beach and the neighbouring soccer fields. It was first seen at 6:00 p.m. on the 15 th by myself (Christian Renault) and my wife Jill and children at the beach. On the 16th, it was seen by myself at the same spot on the beach, and then on a neighbouring field, grazing, between 5:00 and 5:20 p.m. Then today on a soccer field beside the beach between 3:45 and 4:00 p.m..

Note: it is sticking around with Ring-billed Gulls. Yesterday 21 Snow geese and hundreds of Canada Geese were near the beach, and the Brant didn't bother mingling with them when a pedestrian walked nearby; it flew off with the gulls in the field, not in the water. It allowed me to stand about 50 m from it and take pictures. A Wilson's Snipe was on the beach. No sign of any other goose.

Directions: Pembroke is located on the Transcanada HWY 17 between North Bay and Ottawa, at the end of HWY 41. To get to Riverside Park: take Paul Martin Dr North at the traffic lights on HWY 17. Turn left on Boundary (first traffic lights), drive up to the end. Turn right at the stop sign on Forced Rd, cross the train tracks, to the traffic lights, where you turn left on Pembroke Street W. Riverside Park is 200 m further on your right; veer right to get to the beach, it might be still there.
