Holiday Beach Migration Observatory (HBMO) banded a record late Ruby-throated Hummingbird for our banding station today. It was a hatch-year, male who was healthy and rather plump. He had a fat score of 5 on a 0-7 fat scale used by banders. His weight was 4.2 grams. HBMO is located at the Holiday Beach Conservation Area about 20 km south and east of Windsor where the Detroit River flows into Lake Erie. Carl A. Raptor Observations: Rain and strong winds caused the termination of the count at 10:00 AM EST. When others arrived at the Tower there were birds flying so a supplemental count was done. This count began at 12 noon to 2:30 PM EST. Counters included Bob Pettit, Tim Smart, and Claude Radley. Non-raptor Observations: The marsh was again filled with Red-winged Blackbirds early this morning. Despite the gloomy weather they were calling and flying about in a flock of about 500 birds. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Bob Pettit ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/
