Weather:
Today saw mostly cloudy skies with only the occasional brighter break,
especially in the afternoon. Winds were moderate but gusty from the west.

Raptor Observations:
Similar to Saturday’s flight, Sharpies were moving in numbers early today
and continued to do so throughout the day. By mid morning, vultures were
also moving steadily although the flight overall was not heavy. With the
west wind, the birds were spread over a very broad front, making for quite
challenging counting. Highlights today included the season’s first Northern
Goshawk and the year’s 9th Swainson’s Hawk. The Swainson’s Hawk, a
light-morph juvenile, made its appearance in mid afternoon in a group of 8
TVs and obliged us by flying directly overhead.

Non-raptor Observations:
Crows and Tree Swallows continued to be the dominant non-raptor migrants.
The fall’s first Tundra Swans, a group of 5, were also noted today.
