Weather:
The weather today was a mix of sun and cloud with very brisk west-northwest
winds.

Raptor Observations:
A very steady migration was seen throughout the day dominated largely by
another good Sharpie movement and a moderately large TV flight. With the
considerable winds, much of the movement was quite low and overhead. As is
typical in these sorts of strong west dominated winds, the vultures did a
lot of tacking back and forth, making counting difficult. Adding to this
was the large crow migration, in the order of 15-20 thousand birds, which
at times were mixed in with the TVs, further complicating the counting
process. Buteos made a pretty good showing today, the day’s tally
highlighted by the season’s first two Rough-legged Hawks, both
light-morphs.

Non-raptor Observations:
Orange-crowned Warbler continues to be reliable along the Cherry Island
trail with 3 seen here today along with a Philadelphia Vireo.
