There was a gradual increase in cloud cover particularly in the afternoon when heavy cloud cover moved into the area ahead of tonights forecast rain. Winds were light southeast early becoming moderate by late morning. Raptor Observations: A somewhat slow start to the day turned into a very steady flight with good numbers for most species and very good diversity overall. In addition to another impressive TV flight, this was the biggest movement of Red-tails thus far and included a juvenile Western type more heavily marked on the underside and under wing coverts, more uniformly dark above with less contrast between the tail and the rest of the upper parts than a juvenile Eastern would show. Other highlights of the day included great looks at a juvenile Northern Goshawk, an adult male Northern Harrier, a light-morph Rough-legged Hawk as well as 4 Golden Eagles including two in tandem. Non-raptor Observations: Other migrants noted today were Fox Sparrows and Lapland Longspurs. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Calvin Brennan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/
