Birded the Long Sault Parkway again this morning.
The RED-NECKED GREBE spotted last week was still present and very close,
between Hoople and Dickinson Islands on the north side of the parkway.
A WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was also visible in the waters east of the bridge
after the Long Sault park entrance gate and Mille Roches campsite area. It
was visible from the east-most end of the bridge and from the driving path
on the next island.
Others spotted this morning included GADWALL, COMMON AND HOODED MERGANSERS,
AMERICAN WIGEONS, MALLARDS, COMMON GOLDENEYE and of course, lots of CANADIAN
GEESE.
Directions: Exit 778 (Long Sault) off the 401. Drive south into Long Sault
and go straight through the traffic light at Highway 2. This is the
beginning of the Parkway. There is no entrance fee this time of year.
