After a day with rains all around, Nov.12 was marked with strong north winds, rising BP and a TUV=2, bringing very many visitors to help keep count of the 672 kettling Red-tailed Hawks as they came through on several lines, after being pushed out over the lakefront. It was a thrill to see so many migrating raptors in mid-November. Among the total of 707 we also viewed 4 RED-SHOULDEREDS, 6 dark morph ROUGH-LEGGEDS, 2 GOLDEN EAGLES and 2 distant Eagles which we recorded as Unidentified. We did not have much time to view "other birds", but did manage to see a low-flying SHORT-EARED OWL, an adult Northern Shrike, a Purple Finch and several Common Loons.
