While opportunistically pishing for Song or Swamp Sparrows (no success), a female Common Yellowthroat responded with call notes, then appeared briefly among Red Osier Dogwoods on the banks of Laurel Creek. It was seen by my son, Ben, and myself as we participated in the Kitchener CBC.
The location is just north of the Research and Technology Park, on the north side of the University of Waterloo campus. The bird was directly under the high-tension hydro line where it crosses both Laurel Creek and the trail that generally parallels it, between Columbia St. and the intersection of Bearinger and Westmount Rds.
