Spent the day on the Niagara River with Jody Allair and Stu Mackenzie. The Razorbill was present at N-O-T-L from about 9 am through at least 10:30 am. It spent most of the time actively feeding along the rip line. We were standing at the park on Front St. and the bird was in line with the fort on the American side. A Red-throated Loon was seen out on the lake and an Iceland Gull and Little Gull were seen while we were there as well. At Sir Adam Beck we saw three different Thayer's Gulls, two Icelands, an adult California Gull and a first-winter Black-legged Kittiwake. Above the falls themselves, we saw an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull. A very nice late December day. This afternoon (Wednesday) I located a Cackling Goose, a female Ruddy Duck and a male Northern Pintail at the Alfred Sewage Lagoons. Photos of Cackling Goose can be seen here: http://jacquesbouvier.blogspot.com DIRECTIONS: From the town of Alfred go east on Highway 17, then turn south on Peat Moss Road and drive for 2 km. The lagoons are on your left (east side of road). The birds are best observed from the viewing tower.
