(east of Newmarket) on the morning of Dec.28.

Hello Ontbirders,
My Dad (Richard Skevington) and I had a good gull day
along the Niagara River today. The highlight was an
adult Mew Gull at Sir Adam Beck. Other birds included:
adult California Gull, adult Thayers Gull and first
winter Black-legged Kittiwake at Sir Adam Beck, 3
adult Little Gulls at Niagara on the Lake at flyby, 3
adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls above the falls, and
12+ Iceland Gulls (mostly at Chippewa and Sir Adam
Beck).

Holiday Beach Christmas Bird Count
The second Holiday Beach Christmas Bird Count was held in the Town of =20=
Amherstburg, Essex County, on Thursday, December 28, 2006. In mild =20
temperatures, 30 field observers found 76 species compared to 80 =20
species in 2005. Total individuals observed were 13,167.
The following is a brief summary of the Holiday Beach CBC:

I have seen a female Black-backed Woodpecker this morning today at 1pm.
Directions: From Hwy 6 (north of Wiarton, just south of Ferndale) go west on Little Pike Bay Road to the end, go south on Hobsons Harbour Drive. At #158 continue for another 100m, park, there is a trail on the left with a chain, walk the trail straight for approx 300m.

This afternoon there was Snowy Owls perched on a fence post on the south side
of Little Pike Bay Road.
Directions:
From Hwy 6 (north of Wiarton, about 4km south of Ferndale) go west on Little Pike Bay Road for about 300m. The Owl was on the south side.
