At about 2:20 pm today (Dec 31), Cheryl Edgecombe and I had a Pomarine
Jaeger on Lake Ontario off Fifty Point Conservation Area at the Hamilton /
Grimsby boundary. The bird, a dark morph juvenile, was in view for about 10
minutes a fair distance out towards the west as it chased gulls but
eventually came to within a kilometre or so and gave reasonable looks. It
eventually settled on the water and was lost from view. The winds were
strong north-easterly.

Directions: From the QEW highway in east Hamilton, take the Fifty Rd. exit,
go north to the North Service Rd., go east to Baseline Rd., turn left and
continue to the entrance to Fifty Point Conservation Area. Entrance fee
required. In the park, head towards the lake and park in the lot below the
headland; view the lake from here.

Wishing all a happy new year!
