I apologize for the late post. There where three snow geese (one immature and two adult) at Pringle Creek Tuesday afternoon. Also there was a single male Northern Pintail. All were on the east side of the bridge.
To get to Pringle Creek, exit at Brock Rd. and drive south to the bridge. You're not allowed to park along the road, but there is a parking lot a bit west on the first road before the bridge. Noticeable features-- large black, somewhat speckled carpal patches, light head and nearly unstreaked breast, very broad dark brown belly band and flanks, clear white undertail coverts and broad dark gray terminal tail band. Hall's Rd. runs south from Victoria St. in southwest Whitby, and is 1 block east of LakeRidge Rd. As you travel down the road keep a watch on the fields on both sides--Northern Harrier, Red-tailed Hawk, Sharp-shinned and Cooper's have been there over the past month. The bird was present this morning feeding in the rapids just off Remic Rapids Lookout. This location has been a regular winter site for Barrow's Goldeneye for many years. At Deschenes Rapids, off Britannia Point, there was a very late Double-crested Cormorant feeding. When I first saw it, the bird was on the shoreline ice and attempted to fly off but had some difficulty. It may be injured. If you require additional information, please email me privately. good birding Bruce Directions: Barrow's Goldeneye: Remic Rapids can be reached by taking Parkdale Ave. north from Hwy. 417 in Ottawa to the Western Parkway. Follow parkway west to Remic Rapids lookout and park. The Barrow's can be viewed from the cement lookout. The lookout parking lot is closed so you will have to park at the next parking area just west of Remic. Bruce Di Labio 400 Donald B.
