Karen and I did a fairly thorough search of the Owl Woods this
afternoon. We located 3 SAW-WHET OWLS in the Pine Woods as well as
about 26 LONG-EARED OWLS throughout. At the east end there were at
least 5 SNOWY OWLS and 8 or 9 SHORT-EARED OWLS, 6 of which were at the
north end of the road into the Owl Woods.

Amherst Island is about 15 km west of Kingston. The ferry leaves from
Millhaven on the half-hour. The Owl Woods are located at the east end
of the Island. It is still possible to drive in as of today.

Alex. and Karen Scott
