Hello, all - I passed through Kingston on Feb. 11 (Sunday), where 2 Queen's
students wanted me to identify a "large brown hawk" they had seen over the
weekend, clutching a "pigeon" that it had apparently captured. They were not
birders, and could give very few useful details, but perhaps it is worth
alerting folks to the possibility of a Gyrfalcon in the area, as I think that's
what it might have been. The sighting was near the lake, just east of the
Queen's campus. However, this is defintely NOT a confirmed sighting.
Keep your eyes open, Kingston birders!
Cheers,
John

Hi Everyone
There was a male Am.Three-toed woodpecker present this morning from
10:00 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. along the trail off Kerwin Road. The woodpecker was
down the trail approximately 200 m and on the right in about 10 m. We
located the bird by its tapping. It was working over a dead spruce tree.
good birding
