Hi everyone,
While going about my business this afternoon I spotted 2 Peregrine
Falcons flying together one clutching some feathered prey
in its talons. While pulling off the 401 at Markham Rd. I spotted flying
low heading north across Hwy. 401 from the Radicence
Hotel. As I turned northbound on Markham Rd. I could see one heading to
the Yellow Pages Group Tower on the SE corner
of Progress & Milner. As I was going that way anyways I pulled into the
Industrial unit driveway just to the east of the tower.
From there I could see one of the PF plucking feathers off its prey on
one of the tower ledges. The other PF landed and watched
from the next ledge up on the SE corner of the building.
Heading into Aurora where I live I observed a Sharp-shinned Hawk.
Regards,
Sigi

I went through Omemee on monday after hearing the report of the swans being
there. I wasn't able to locate them in the morning but on my return after class
in Lindsay the pair were both there sitting on the ice next to the Dam. The
neck collar turned into a wing tag which was a nice treat! I have extensive
experience in wing tagging nestling turkey vultures back home in Saskatchewan
with Dr.C Stuart Houston. We have been doing this study since 2003 so i was
pleased to see another species with similar tags. Great spot to get photographs
and to observe the pair with little disturbance to them as they slept on the
ice. I was through there again after school today but wasn't able to come up
with them.
Best Regards!

Greetings Fellow Birders,=20
Spring is in the air. On Wednesday afternoon I saw a single TRUMPETER =
SWAN (although there may have been more out of sight as I didn't stop to =
look around) on the north side of the bridge over the Narrows which =
connect Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching. Then I saw a SHARP-SHINNED =
HAWK dive bombing a starling on the south side of hwy 12 east of =
Memorial Ave. (near the sewage plant). On my way home the TRUMPETER SWAN =
flew right over top of the bridge just 100m behind my car!!!
Orillia is 30 min north of Barrie on Hwy 11 then take the hwy 12 east =
exit.
Here is the Google Map link to the narrows =
