The first-winter Laughing Gull was easy to find in Cobourg harbour all
Saturday, March 10th, but more elusive today, Sunday March 11th. Today it was
seen in the early morning, then was unfindable for most of the day, only to
turn up "out of the blue" at its usual spot by the parking lot at 4pm.
New arrivals in the harbour today included 3 Ruddy Ducks and a Pied-billed
Grebe.

Directions: Exit Hwy.401 at Exit 474, Division Street. Follow Division St.
south to where it ends at the harbour, then drive west around the harbour to
the main parking lot on the west side.

Official Counter: Mike Street

Observers: Sandra Davey

Visitors:
Lots of people enjoying the sunny and warmer day. Thanks to those who
helped count.

Weather:
Clear skies all day, temperature went from +2°C to +7°C, winds were light
to moderate

Raptor Observations:
A nice first year Northern Goshawk, a distant adult Bald Eagle and terrific
looks at many birds illuminated by light reflected off the snow cover were
the highlights today. First total over 50 raptors for the season; not the
big number we hoped for but better than being skunked!

Non-raptor Observations:
Where do we start? A flock of 40 Tundra Swans (with a lone Canada goose)
low overhead, a small flight of about 20 Snow Geese (seen only rarely at
Beamer CA), Killdeer, Robins, Red-winged Blackbirds, Grackle, Song Sparrow

Predictions:
Here they come!
