The aechmophorus grebe seen last week at the Leslie Street Spit was
still present this afternoon [17 March]. It was re-located by Jim
Fairchild off the Flats, about 500m west of the SE tip [aka Pipit
Point] at about 14:40. Roy Smith and I watched it until 17:30 in that
area.
Direction: The Leslie Street Spit is located at the foot of Leslie
Street in Toronto.

For those vsiting Long Point tomorrow:
While I saw no sign of the Ross's Goose today at Long Point, I did see
the White-fronted Geese in the cornfields north of 2885 Cty Rd 42 at
6:30 this evening. This house is a little east of Port Royal. The
field was also full of Tundra Swans, Canada Geese and a lot of ducks. I
could see at least 2 White-fronts but it was difficult to count them
among the other geese and cornstalks. They were also quite a piece off
the road.
Beyond what George Pond already noted in his post, the only other
noteworthy sightings I can add were 2 different Merlins.

This report might not have meant anything 20 or 30 years ago because =
Ring-necked Pheasants were relatively easy to find throughout Southern =
Ontario. That's why I was very surprised to find a female pheasant =
sitting placidly by the roadside right next to the railroad crossing at =
the corner of the 12th Line and 20th Sideroad east of Highway 11 on =
March 18 at about 10:45 am. It was quite fearless and I pulled up =
parallel with it in the car and rolled down the window for a closer =
look. She just calmly walked away.
I would not be surprised if she was an escapee from a nearby farm, =
although her feather condition was excellent and there were no bands or =
other indicators of captivity.=20
Location is just north of Braford on Hwy. 11 and then as per directions =
above.

At 3.15 PM two White Fronted Geese with Canada Geese and Tundra Swans were
just east of Port Royal on the north side of the Front Road.
Port Royal is about 2 KMs west of the Long Point Causeway from Port Rowan
and Highway 59
