Hi Everyone
Today, March 25th, spent the morning birding Presqu'ile Provincial Park.
Viewing conditions were excellent. Six Red-throated Loons, in winter plumage
were observed in Popham Bay off Owen Point Beach Trail and Beach #1.
There was a good variety of waterfowl in both Presqu'ile and Popham Bay
including 700+ Canvasback, 300+ Redhead, 3000+ Greater Scaup and 1000+
Long-tailed Duck, 1000+ Common Goldeneye, 137 White-winged Scoter, 4 Ruddy
Duck( Salt Pt.) and 1 Common Loon.
A brief afternoon visit to Amherst Island produced 6 Long-eared Owl, 1
American Woodcock and 1 Fox Sparrow in the "Owl Woods". One Snowy Owl was
seen south of the village of Stella. Visibility was poor on Lake Ontario due
to fog.
On our drive back to Ottawa, 30+ Tree Swallows were observed along Hwy.
401 at Kingston.
