Most of Kempenfelt Bay on the west end of Lake Simcoe is still frozen but there is a small area of open water where the Barrie Water Treatment centre has its outflow. This is about 100 yards off shore directly out from Coronation Park. Today, Sunday, at about 10 am there were at least 5 Glaucous Gulls and 2 Iceland among the Herrings and Ringed-bills in the water and on the surrounding ice. There was a good sampling of waterfowl including a raft of Buffleheads and Lesser Scaup, 2 Common Merg. 2 Am. Widgeon, 1 Long-tailed Duck plus Mallards and Blacks and a pair of Blue-winged Teal. To reach Kempenfelt Bay and Coronation Park from 400 take the Essa Road Exit and follow Essa Road N to Tiffin. Turn right on Tiffin and left on Lakeshore drive. The parking lot for Coronation Park is about 100 yards along Lakeshore Jim Coey Dunnock Enterprises Experts in Nature Tours Suite 1008, #6 Toronto Street, Barrie Ontario L4N 9R2 705 252 0513 Cell 705 717 1565 www.questnaturetours.com From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Apr 1 14:46:01 2007 Return-Path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Delivered-To: [email protected] Received: from smtp2.execulink.net (smtp2.execulink.net [69.63.44.83]) by king.hwcn.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id DA7926348C for <[email protected]>; Sun, 1 Apr 2007 14:46:00 -0400 (EDT) Received: from golden1.internal.mail.execulink.net (golden1.internal.mail.execulink.net [69.63.44.66]) by smtp2.execulink.net (8.13.1/8.12.11) with ESMTP id l31IlFGT028077; Sun, 1 Apr 2007 14:47:16 -0400 Received: from node-733.tor.pppoe.execulink.com ([216.59.242.221] helo=carol8a19c7f3e) by golden1.internal.mail.execulink.net with esmtp (Exim 4.50) id 1HY53p-0002Vk-U3; Sun, 01 Apr 2007 14:45:54 -0400 From: "Carol & Jim" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]>, "Mike Burrell" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Sun, 1 Apr 2007 14:45:38 -0400 Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Microsoft Office Outlook 11 Thread-Index: Acd0jfEF1WHJ1z3uQDOXf0i+APVrxg== X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.3028 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.1 Subject: [Ontbirds]Great Egret, Glen Allan X-BeenThere: [email protected] X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 01 Apr 2007 18:46:01 -0000
Hi Birders, My Dad Jim and I were out driving along the Conestoga River around noon today just east of the town of Glen Allan near Elmira. At the bridge crossing the Conestoga River along the Centre Side Road a Great Egret was observed feeding in the shallows. However shortly thereafter the bird took flight heading west and was subsequently "lost".
