Hello Ontario Birders,

My wife and I observed one Blue-gray Gnatcatcher , 4 Palm Warblers & 12
Yellow-rumped Warblers on the Merrit Trail in St. Catharines. In addition,
we also observed White-throated Sparrows, a Brown Thrasher, an Eastern
Towhee, 2 Hermit Thrushes and 2 Carolina Wrens. Birds were observed on the
section of trail between Wellandvale Rd & Martindale Rd. between 2:30-4:45
pm.

The Blue-gray Gnatcatcher was observed 100-150 metres from the entrance of
the trail on the side overlooking Twelve Mile Creek, just past the new
houses on the right. There is also a new housing development further down
the trail on the right.

>From the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Martindale Rd travel north on
Martindale Rd. The trail entrance, on the right hand side, is across from
Huntington Square, on the left hand side. There are many parking spots in
the square. Cross Martindale Rd. at the pedestrian crosswalk to access the
trail.
