Apparently the Whimbel migration hasn't lost its momentum ... which is good new for those who haven't had their WHIMBREL fix yet. I suspect with another system moving through over night and tomorrow morning their will be a fair number of Whimbrel still on move tomorrow.
Since the morning posting Whimbrels have been moving past the park regularly until 5:00 pm when I just left. We had two birds simultaneously in view and each = singing, one on the wires along the E 1/4 Line about 200 m north of Hwy 24 near = the Anderson-Barrett Tract sign, and another in the third tree west of the = 1/4 Line along the north side of Hwy 24 (about 75 m from the corner). One = of the birds was observed collecting nesting material as well. These birds = are readily found by their constant singing, and are easily viewed from the shoulder of the roads, but make sure not to block traffic and not to = stand on the roads as some of the locals seem to take pleasure in playing = chicken with pedestrians and parked cars. Directions: Take Hwy 24 south of Simcoe and countinue west to the Walsingham East Quarter Line which is one concession east of Hwy 59 = which runs south to Long Point.
