This aft at 2pm, 1 Whimbrel, 1 Golden Plover and 2 Common Terns showed up at Reesor Pond, the Golden frequenting the margins [the Golden looked rather like the Pacific race, but I doubt it] - the pond lies just north of Hwy 407 on Reesor Road in Markham. ciao - Stan Long From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat May 26 22:38:52 2007 Return-Path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Delivered-To: [email protected] Received: from tomts36-srv.bellnexxia.net (tomts36.bellnexxia.net [209.226.175.93]) by king.hwcn.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id DB2CD634CB for <[email protected]>; Sat, 26 May 2007 22:38:51 -0400 (EDT) Received: from none ([70.53.5.152]) by tomts36-srv.bellnexxia.net (InterMail vM.5.01.06.13 201-253-122-130-113-20050324) with SMTP id <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> for <[email protected]>; Sat, 26 May 2007 22:38:51 -0400 Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> From: "Jean & Bob" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Date: Sat, 26 May 2007 22:35:16 -0400 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1409 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2800.1409 X-Mailman-Approved-At: Sun, 27 May 2007 14:36:53 -0400 Subject: [Ontbirds] Savannah Sparrows, Bobolinks & an Upland Sandpiper in St. Catharines X-BeenThere: [email protected] X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 27 May 2007 02:38:52 -0000
Hello Ontario Birders, Today (May 26) at 3:15 pm, my wife and I observed 4 Savannah Sparrows, 5 Bobolinks and 1 Upland Sandpiper in west St. Catharines. All the birds were observed from 5th Avenue. The Bobolinks, most likely more than I counted, were observed in the grassy field directly south of 5th Avenue. The Savannah Sparrows were also observed in the grassy field but were also in the vineyards directly north of 5th Avenue. The Upland Sandpiper was observed directly north of 5th Avenue, in a ditch in front of the ploughed field between the two vineyards.
From the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Martindale Rd. travel west on
Fourth Avenue. At 1st Street Louth turn left. After the railway tracks 5th Avenue will be on the right hand side. Bob Highcock & Jean Hampson St. Catharines, ON
