I apologize for posting this on Ontbirds as it is a bit off topic but I
can't help being overwhelmed by the success of the nesting of the Piping
Plovers this year at Sauble Beach and feel some public praise is
warranted. I'm sure this is happening but the only connection I have had
with this incident is through Ontbirds and so I am posting here.

I think all the organizers and the volunteers deserve all the accolades
in the world. I am particularly impressed and grateful for the many
volunteers that must have put in long hot hours on the beach.

I heard from a non-birding friend of mine that just happened to be at
Sauble on July 26th with her family and discovered the plovers that day.
She phoned me the next day with the exciting news about the piping
plovers and was full of praise for the volunteer she talked to who had
given them such great information.

This is indeed a great, if small success story and even though I have
nothing to do with Sauble or the people in the area I can't help but be
proud of their efforts and the exemplary way they have represented the
community of Ontario. My thanks go out to them.
