I thank the very many who came to help at the CMRW over 6 hours on Aug.26.
Among the non-raptors--6 Great Egret, 12+ Green heron, 4 southbound Common
Loon, Black-bellied plover, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Chimney swift, Red-eyed
Vireo, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Black-and-white warbler, Spotted sandpiper,
Solitary sandpiper.
Numbers of Monarchs per minute--between 0900 and 1000--6+; 1000-1100--12+, and
between 1200 and 1300--30+
We were kept alert with migrating raptors coming through rapidly--see table
below; highlights were 1 juv.Bald Eagle, 16 Ospreys and 22 American Kestrels.
Among the local raptors were 2 juv. Turkey Vultures, 1 Red-tailed Hawk, 1
Sharp-shinned Hawk, 3 Osprey.
We noted only 2 migrating raptors-both Ospreys
