Conditions were again ideal for a lakewatch down at the beach today. I
arrived at the beach atabout 1:30 p.m. and stayed until 4:30 p.m. In the
time I was there, the group of dedicated birders or nuts had 4 juv.
Black-legged Kittiwakes, 1 Long-tailed Jaeger and several Parasitic Jaegers
at close range to the beach, one of them being an adult. Shorebirds
included 1 Red Knot (seen earlier), Black-bellied Plover and Sanderling.

Directions: To reach Van Wagners Beach, take the Centennial Parkway (Hwy.
20) exit from the QEW in east Hamilton and proceed north to the North
Service Rd., turn left and continue west as it turns into Van Wagners Road.
Continue to the parking lots at either Hutch's Restaurant or the Lakeland
Centre viewing tower and view the lake anywhere near here.

Cheers,
Cheryl Edgecombe
