Mostly sunny conditions prevailed for the remainder of the day with some cumulous clouds providing a background for high-flying birds. Winds were light north for much of the day becoming east-southeast late in the day. Raptor Observations: There was but a trickle of birds while the overcast conditions prevailed, with a predictable upturn of activity as the skies cleared. Migration was steady throughout the afternoon continuing even into the early evening. While most species were recorded in good numbers overall, the latter part of the day belonged to Kestrels with over a hundred recorded in the last two hours of the count. Non-raptor Observations: Non-raptor highlights included two migrating Common Nighthawks late in the day along with the multiple Cape May Warblers that have been frequenting the spruce tree near the watch the last couple of days. Predictions: Given today's late movement, tomorrow should be a very good day. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Calvin Brennan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
