Weather:
As with the last couple of days, much of the morning was cloudy today with
conditions improving rapidly around noon. Sunny conditions dominated the
afternoon hours. Winds were moderate to fairly strong west becoming
west-southwest by mid afternoon.

Raptor Observations:
Even during the cloud cover in the morning, Sharpies moved steadily and
continued to into the early afternoon, tapering off once the entire flight
line shifted to the north. The first Broad-wing kettles were seen at noon
and there were several good pulses during the afternoon with the largest
group being about 15 hundred birds. Undoubtedly there were more birds to
the north as some of the kettles detected later in the day were at the
limit of focus in the spotting scope. In addition to this first good push
of the season recorded for Broad-wings was the best movement of TVs seen so
far.

A couple of interesting side bars to the flight today: an observer in
Ontario near Holiday Beach photographed a Swallow-tailed Kite around 230pm;
an observer birding the Metropark museum trail reported a dark-morph
Broad-winged Hawk.

Non-raptor Observations:
